Engage in professional growth and leadership
Teachers continuously improve their professional practice, model lifelong learning, and exhibit leadership in their school and professional community by promoting and demonstrating the effective use of digital tools and resources.
a. Participate in local and global learning communities to explore creative applications of technology to improve student learning
b. Exhibit leadership by demonstrating a vision of technology infusion, participating in shared decision making and community building, and developing the leadership and technology skills of others
c. Evaluate and reflect on current research and professional practice on a regular basis to make effective use of existing and emerging digital tools and resources in support of student learning
d. Contribute to the effectiveness, vitality, and self-renewal of the teaching profession and of their school and community
Reflection: Being in groups is probably the strongest point for this standard. Being able to share ideas and different viewpoints is very helpful as a teacher, especially a newbie. Contributing ideas to the end product helped me to understand a specific topic from someone else's point of view. I must admit that I learned quite a bit from my group members, especially David. I knew hardly anything about art until I came into this class. His course website was so informative as a teacher and a person. Because of this, I've linked my blog below. My fellow group members replying to my discussion posts every week with very helpful information. In addition, I've also linked my class website. The resources, tools, and website on it helped me to gain valuable information. I knew nothing about many of the sites until I came into this class. Last is my presentation. This was my opportunity to spread information to my group members. There were able to "act" as students in my class and learn about multiplication and division.
Artifacts:
Blog
Class Website
Presentation
Future Goals: Of all of the artifacts, I can use myself integrating all of them in my future classrooms. In fact, I could have my students to create their own websites as a project. In order to allow them to be creative, I can let them create a marketing website about their favorite product. Of course, I will also use the slides presentation from time to time. I do believe the blog would be a great tool for the classroom but as an informative basis. I could post useful information for the students especially around final exam time.
